Walking Your Dog

For those Riderwood residents who have dogs, taking them on periodic walks is practically unavoidable. This activity should not only be enjoyable for the dog owner and their dog but not impose on those who don't have dogs. Leaving dog feces in common areas or in the yards of Riderwood homeowners has been a common problem in our neighborhood and has been addressed. It is only common courtesy for dog owners to clean up after their dogs and keep their dog and other pets from roaming freely in common areas and on the property of others. Additionally, allowing dogs to urinate on grassy areas routinely kills the grass after a while due to the acid in the dogs urine. It is almost impossible from keeping a dog from using the bathroom when it has to however, it isn't that difficult to clean up after them if this happens. Carrying a plastic bag with you while walking your dog will help you be prepared to clean up your dogs waste should they happen to go in a common area where people walk or children play or in the yard of another resident.  Finally, when walking your dog, know your dog and its temperment because there are Riderwood residents who are afraid of dogs. Keep your dog on a leash and keep them under control at all times in case you come across someone who doesn't want any type of contact with a dog. There are guidelines pet owners must abide by should they own or desire to own a pet and these guidelines can be viewed by  clicking here

Let's make having pets in our community enjoyable and safe for everyone!
